Secrets for Marriage Success

By Natori Moore

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!  With all that goes into planning your wedding day – the guest list, the photographer, the tuxedoes and dresses – it may be useful to add one more item to your list.  How do your astrological charts compare?  Evaluating your fitness for marriage based on your astrological signs can pay dividends for you and your spouse for years to come.

First, evaluate your own fitness for marriage.  Do you possess the best or worst traits of your Sun sign?

Sign Dates Best Attributes Worst Attributes
Aries Mar 20 – Apr 20 Courageous, Energetic Selfish, Poor Listener
Taurus Apr 20 – May 20 Steady, Placid Stubborn, Indulgent
Gemini May 20 – Jun 20 Clever, Intelligent Fickle, Restless
Cancer Jun 20 – Jul 20 Good Parent, Nurturing Moody, Childish
Leo Jul 20 – Aug 20 Fun, Big-Hearted Self-Centered, Demanding
Virgo Aug 20 – Sep 20 Hard-Working, Likes to Clean! Critical of Self and Others
Libra Sep 20 – Oct 20 Beautiful, Cooperative Indecisive, Invisible
Scorpio Oct 20 – Nov 20 Devoted, Passionate Secretive, Jealous
Sagittarius Nov 20 – Dec 20 Adventurous, Eager Know-it-All, Lazy
Capricorn Dec 20 – Jan 20 Ambitious, Determined Depressed, Mean
Aquarius Jan 20 – Feb 20 Friendly, Allows Freedom Detached, Cold
Pisces Feb 20 – Mar 20 Compassionate, Caring Escapist, Procrastinating

Once you’re married, you’ll want to continue to bring out the best attributes of your sign.  The signs that often do well in marriage are:

Libra – Classic sign of partnership and cooperation, loves companionship
Pisces – Romantic and giving, puts others needs above one’s own
Cancer – Home and family oriented
Taurus – Satisfied with consistency and simple comforts

If you’re not one of the above signs, don’t fret, you can still have a successful marriage.  You may simply need to be aware of the things that can get in your way:

Aries – You like your independence
Gemini – Your attentions can be scattered
Leo – The mirror can beat your spouse for best friend status
Virgo – Work, work, work
Scorpio – You’re the brooding, jealous type
Sagittarius – You don’t like boundaries
Capricorn – You’re busy climbing that corporate mountain
Aquarius – That romance stuff is a little too close for comfort

Also, consider your general compatibility with your partner’s sign.  There are many ways to do this, and much more depth involved if you want to do it thoroughly, but here’s a simple start.  Choose a partner with a Sun sign that falls within the same group as yours, according to the table below.

Group A Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius
Group B Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces

Group A signs generally have a more socially outgoing and experimental temperament, whereas Group B signs have a more reserved and conservational temperament.  If your Sun signs fall in different groups, you may have to show extra patience in understanding one another, but you can balance each other out nicely.

There’s another secret to marriage success, and that’s using the timing of Venus (planet of love) and the Moon (domestic happiness) to select a good marriage time and date.  The idea behind choosing a wedding date according to the stars is that a marriage occurring under good planetary conditions is like a seed planted in good soil -- it will have the best chance of blossoming well through the years.  Though there are no guarantees, much can be done through selecting a good wedding date to minimize problem areas and enhance the probability of a strong and fruitful future.

May you have much joy as you plan your wedding day, and many happy years together!
