Heart of the Hunt
If the Mars retrograde in Taurus period from August 2005 through
February 2006 is a fixed sign treasure hunt, the month of November 2005 may
be the heart of the hunt. We're at the back of the cave, having gained
some insight already, trying to find the flashlight to gather more, only to
discover we need to turn our map around and re-read it to find the best way
to the treasure chest of our true values and desires, and then later to our
best plan of action. Delays abound this month in the form of Mars retrograde, the New
Moon square Saturn, and Mercury retrograde beginning November 13. As
long as we keep our focus on finding the treasure at the back of the cave,
and don't try to turn our attention back toward the cave door just yet, we'll
be in good shape. We may surprise ourselves with our concentrative powers
and ability to focus this month, especially on projects of long standing that
we resurrect and move toward completion. Astrologer Therese Francis reminds us that Mercury is the "negotiator
between the conscious and subconscious mind." Spending time journaling
about private thoughts or making art that comes from a deep subconscious
place may prove especially fruitful this month. Under Mercury retrograde,
the focus moves from outer world activity to re-dos related to the past three
months, as well as inner world navigation. Mercury retrograde
and stationing in Sagittarius (11/13 to 11/26, 12/13 to 12/21) and Scorpio
(11/27 to 12/12) suggests activities such as reviewing educational or travel
goals and plans, finding and expressing the deeper truth about a matter, cleaning
up the outdoors, rethinking philosophies of life, reviewing best directions
for growth, reminiscing while viewing a photo album with family or friends,
reading or re-reading mysteries or thrillers, reviewing stock portfolios
and joint investments, reviewing wills, and going hiking or traveling someplace
you've been before. This month's watchwords
are patience, attention and depth. Oh, and if you get the light just
